ACTS 3 - Spiritual Lame-ness
Passage: Acts 3:1-10
This is first miracle that is recorded with details. The other miracles that happened has mention of it happening but the details are not documented.
But this miracle seem to have so much importance so that it's details were documented. Here are some points to note
- The miracle happened in the temple in the name of Jesus among the priesthood that orchestrated the death of Jesus
- This miracle happened among the worshipers and among people who came to experience God. But the lame person didn't really come to experience God. He came to make living by seeking alms.
- The person was lame. He lost the functionality of his feet and hence had to carry himself instead of his feet taking him from place to place.
Spiritual Decoding
The Holy Spirit dwells in us Christians today. But we no idea on how we can function effectively with the help of the Holy Spirit. Hence we have no idea of our condition of Spirit lame-ness
What does the Holy Spirit enable us?
- Conviction
- Fellowship
- Abundant Life
Conviction
Conviction is not limited area of sin but extends to shows us righteousness and Judgement
VERSE: John 16:8
8 When he comes, he will prove the world to be in the wrong about sin and righteousness and judgment
If our life is limited to conviction of sin and an absence of righteousness, we are lame.
Fellowship
Fellowship with the Holy Spirit
The Fellowship of the third person of the Triune God is what God has promised. The constant interaction (fellowship) with the Holy Spirit promises us counsel (because the Holy Spirit is our counselor)
The counsel is provided in our situation of lame-ness. This lame-ness is our situation where we feel inadequate. We are inadequate in our faith, Love, hope, righteous living etc. Hence we live miserable lives instead of abundant life.
Abundant life
What is abundant life?
It is life that overflows with goodness to affect other people around you. But Peter with the right counsel stretched out his hand to bring strength to lame and the weak. If we are operating in the fellowship and the right counsel, we will be able to pull people up and strengthen the feable.
Practically speaking
Can we be transformed to be like Peter?
The answer is YES. God may choose to do a sudden change or it may be a journey that you have to take. Take your BABY STEPS in this direction. Be patient and you will see the change.
The first step you can take is READ THE WORD. You will see that this will transform you.
