Dew of Heaven
The unity among brothers brings the dew of heaven. The unity brings security and blessing to all the people involved
Passage: Psalm 133
1 How wonderful and pleasant it is when brothers live together in harmony!
2 For harmony is as precious as the anointing oil that was poured over Aaron’s head, that ran down his beard and onto the border of his robe.
3 Harmony is as refreshing as the dew from Mount Hermon that falls on the mountains of Zion. And there the Lord has pronounced his blessing, even life everlasting.
The dew of heaven is likened to the blessing of God.
Verse: Genesis 27:28
“From the dew of heaven and the richness of the earth, may God always give you abundant harvests of grain and bountiful new wine.
This was the promise to Jacob. But Easu didn't have this and he lived the sword among his brothers. What is the source of this dew of heaven..... it is the teaching of the Word of God
Verse: Deuteronomy 32:2
Let my teaching fall on you like rain; let my speech settle like dew. Let my words fall like rain on tender grass, like gentle showers on young plants.
We are so blessed to listen and have the Word of God in our hands. One such teaching is the Sermon on the Mount. The teaching talks of 9 such blessedness.
The three things that come out of the dew of heaven
- Unity (Psalm 133:1)
- Blessing that flows (Psalm 133:2)
- Blessing that lifts the curse (Psalm 133:3)
1) Unity (Psalm 133:1)
There is a oneness amoug the people there is a joy that comes out of this. The times of coming together brings that overlow of blessing and joy
Verse: Deuteronomy 16:16
“Each year every man in Israel must celebrate these three festivals: the Festival of Unleavened Bread, the Festival of Harvest, and the Festival of Shelters. On each of these occasions, all men must appear before the Lord your God at the place he chooses, but they must not appear before the Lord without a gift for him.
Verse: Isaiah 65:8
“But I will not destroy them all,” says the Lord. “For just as good grapes are found among a cluster of bad ones (and someone will say, ‘Don’t throw them all away— some of those grapes are good!’), so I will not destroy all Israel. For I still have true servants there.
In the cluster (togetherness) of goodness comes new the wine.
Unity in our Homes
The unity needs to be stressed on the smallest unit that is the family.
2) Blessing that flows (Psalm 133:2)
Aaron is mentioned in the verse 2. Let us see how this anointing happens and how it overflows
Verse: Leviticus 8:12
12 Then he poured some of the anointing oil on Aaron’s head, anointing him and making him holy for his work
Aaron in turns blesses his the people. So the blessing overflows to the rest of the people.
Aaron is the picture of Authority. He was the high priest. There are blessings in the authority structures. There is an order of God over our lives.
As a side note, there could be abuse and God will judge the abuse of authority. God will judge lack of responsibility as well.
The authority structure in our family where the father of the house calls blessing on the rest of the family members. Take up your responsibility
3) Blessing that lifts the curse (Psalm 133:3)
Mount Hermon was the place where the curse fell. But God decided that He would pour out the dew.
What is this Dew of Heaven? This is Jesus and his glory was revealed here
Verse: Matthew 17:1-2
1 Six days later Jesus took Peter and the two brothers, James and John, and led them up a high mountain to be alone.
2 As the men watched, Jesus’ appearance was transformed so that his face shone like the sun, and his clothes became as white as light.
Conclusion
Let us ask the dew of heaven - Jesus in our lives, our homes. And this blessing overflows
