Door of the Ark

The story of Noah is one where God judged the earth but provided salvation for all who chose to enter the ark. And only Noah was remembered by God in his whole generation

Verse: Genesis 8:1

1 But God remembered Noah and all the wild animals and livestock with him in the boat. He sent a wind to blow across the earth, and the floodwaters began to recede.

The door of today's ark is Jesus. We all can enter and be saved. Here are several connections between the Noah's story and ours lives

  • Noah was instructed to feed the animals for their sustenance... The food for our sustenance is the word of God
  • The wind caused the waters to recede. The hovering can be compared to Genesis 1:2 when the Holy Spirit hovered over the unformed earth. The Holy Spirit can calm our stormy situation.
  • But we know that before the Holy Spirit could do His work, God remembered Noah. We also need to be remembered by God. God remembered Noah because he was found faithful. We also need to be faithful.
  • The ark rested on the Mt Ararat. We also rest in God through our difficult situation.
  • Noah and the family made their exit from the ark safely after the flood receded. Please remember we will have our safe exit from our difficult situation. Don't be anxious!!! We are to remain in the ark as long as the storm is on. We need to take refuge in him in our time on earth because life can be a stormy
    • The Psalm is exhorting us to take our refuge in the Lord.
    • Verse: Psalm 18:2 - The Lord is my rock, my fortress, and my savior; my God is my rock, in whom I find protection. He is my shield, the power that saves me, and my place of safety.
  • The Lord closed the door to provide security to Noah. The Lord is the one who protects us.
    • Verse: Genesis 7:14-16 - A male and female of each kind entered, just as God had commanded Noah. Then the Lord closed the door behind them
  • The rainbow is the covenant between Himself and man. This is a sign of compassion of God (Genesis 9:8-17). But remember compassion is never without discipline. His gentle disciple will lead you into the new Jerusalem
    • Verse: Revelation 10:1 - Then I saw another mighty angel coming down from heaven, surrounded by a cloud, with a rainbow over his head. His face shone like the sun, and his feet were like pillars of fire.
    • Verse: 2 Peter 3:12 - looking forward to the day of God and hurrying it along. On that day, he will set the heavens on fire, and the elements will melt away in the flames.
  • After the flood, the world was renewed. The renewal came about because God promised this... Live in this renewed life.
    • Verse: 2 Corinthians 5:17 - This means that anyone who belongs to Christ has become a new person. The old life is gone; a new life has begun!

Conclusion

The reason why Noah's story is written in the Bible is because it applies to us today as well. We can either refuse to enter the door - Jesus and perish or enjoy His abundant life. Choose Life!!!
