SundaySermon - The New Beginning

 The New Beginning

Passage: Luke 24:13-34

The two disciples who were on the road talked about their confusion. This confusion was of course shared by the 12 who were closest to Jesus. But Jesus came by and joined their conversation.

Verse: Luke 24:25‭-‬26

25 Then Jesus said to them, “You foolish people! You find it so hard to believe all that the prophets wrote in the Scriptures.

26 Wasn’t it clearly predicted that the Messiah would have to suffer all these things before entering his glory?”

This conversation was a rebuke..... some of need that rebuke so that we understand what the scriptures say. Also be mindful..... if your rebuke does not bring about any good, don't do it.

What came about this rebuke..... "their eyes were opened". This is what they had to say

Verse: Luke 24:32

They said to each other, “Didn’t our hearts burn within us as he talked with us on the road and explained the Scriptures to us?”

Does your rebuke make the hearts burn? Or does it bring discouragement?

So today is the easter sunday..... and the best way to celebrate easter is to listen to God's word.

Post the passion that was lit up, they jumped ino action

Verse: Luke 24:33

And within the hour they were on their way back to Jerusalem. There they found the eleven disciples and the others who had gathered with them,

This started the new beginning...... This lit fire had to be shared with the rest of the community. They rushed to Jerusalem and the overflow of this passion filled the whole earth.

Verse: Luke 24:35

Then the two from Emmaus told their story of how Jesus had appeared to them as they were walking along the road, and how they had recognized him as he was breaking the bread.

Our lives are probably at the same place where the two disciples were at.... They were confused and dejected.... Their expectations failed and they were depressed.

But the understanding of the scripture changed their perspective. This change in perspective caused them to change the World.

The changed perspective caused

  1. Hope
  2. Courage
  3. Motivation
  4. New Beginning

Hope

This hope is backed by the fact that Jesus is alive

Courage

The fact that Jesus is alive gave them courage to tell people about the same person they had crucified.

Motivation

Life took a different turn. Notice the resurrection message cause the two disciples to returned to Jerusalem the very same hour. Life without motivation is a wasted life.

New Beginning

Their expectation of Jesus being crowned as King were dashed because of his crucifixion. But the walk to Emmaus showed them that their King was truly alive and the disciples changed the World

Conclusion

If understanding of the scripture is the cause for making of the World Changers, then immerse yourself in the scripture. Surround yourself with company of believers whose hearts are warmed up by the scripture.
