Impossible Situation
Life brings it's highs and lows. And God allows us to go through these seasons. Israel as a country was at the bring of annihilation
Verse: 2 Kings 6:24
Some time later, however, King Ben-hadad of Aram mustered his entire army and besieged Samaria.
Beseiged..... Are you surrounded by trouble? The God of the harvest is the God of the famine. The God of the mountain is the God of the Valley.... My God is still God no matter what.... that should give us confidence.
Who do you trust?
We reach out to the wrong people in difficult times. Women reached out to the king who was hopelessly out of control
Verse: 2 Kings 6:27
He answered, “If the Lord doesn’t help you, what can I do? I have neither food from the threshing floor nor wine from the press to give you.”
But our gaze should be on God. The God who can do anything
Verse: Jeremiah 17:7-8
7 “But blessed are those who trust in the Lord and have made the Lord their hope and confidence.
8 They are like trees planted along a riverbank, with roots that reach deep into the water. Such trees are not bothered by the heat or worried by long months of drought. Their leaves stay green, and they never stop producing fruit.
It is important to note that there will be times of difficulty .... but our roots needs to go deeper
Nature of God's Word
Verse: 2 Kings 7:1
Elisha replied, “Listen to this message from the Lord! This is what the Lord says: By this time tomorrow in the markets of Samaria, six quarts of choice flour will cost only one piece of silver, and twelve quarts of barley grain will cost only one piece of silver.”
This was impossible! But God has his ways. The word is opposite to the situation.
God word is sovereign because God cannot lie.
Verse: Hebrews 6:18
So God has given both his promise and his oath. These two things are unchangeable because it is impossible for God to lie. Therefore, we who have fled to him for refuge can have great confidence as we hold to the hope that lies before us
God's Word and time.... it will be appropriate to the season of your life. Wait for his timing
Respond to God's Word
Verse: 2 Kings 7:2
The officer assisting the king said to the man of God, “That couldn’t happen even if the Lord opened the windows of heaven!” But Elisha replied, “You will see it happen with your own eyes, but you won’t be able to eat any of it!”
This person put himself in a position that he cannot receive God's Word.... Be careful. Listen to God's Word.... because he can flourish you in the middle of a famine
Belief is the key that ushers the supernatural into the natural world. What is Belief? Belief is.... taking God at his word
God's Ways and methods are very different from our situation.... He used lepers to bring relief.
Verse: 2 Kings 7:3
Now there were four men with leprosy sitting at the entrance of the city gates. “Why should we sit here waiting to die?” they asked each other.
Stop looking at options.... but look to God. And your breakthrough is meant to be a blessing to others.
Verse: 2 Kings 7:9
Finally, they said to each other, “This is not right. This is a day of good news, and we aren’t sharing it with anyone! If we wait until morning, some calamity will certainly fall upon us. Come on, let’s go back and tell the people at the palace.”
Personal blessing for public blessing..... Joseph was Prime Minister of Egypt to save the people from famine...... Esther was queen for a "time such as this".... The lepers realised this and were compelled to share their blessing.
The people in the city were not prepared for this and were afraid to step out in faith
Verse: 2 Kings 7:12
The king got out of bed in the middle of the night and told his officers, “I know what has happened. The Arameans know we are starving, so they have left their camp and have hidden in the fields. They are expecting us to leave the city, and then they will take us alive and capture the city.”
When are afraid, and you refuse to look to God, you will loose out on your blessing.
Conclusion
Choose to hold on your promise of blessing.
"... By this time tomorrow in the markets of Samaria, six quarts of choice flour will cost only one piece of silver, and twelve quarts of barley grain will cost only one piece of silver"
