The Call of God
God is calling each one of us to be with Him and fulfill the reason why you were created.
Verse: 2 Timothy 1:9
For God saved us and called us to live a holy life. He did this, not because we deserved it, but because that was his plan from before the beginning of time—to show us his grace through Christ Jesus.
Most people are not clear of what God has called us to. But this is a discovery from everyday life. We take that one step and God will show us the next step. And when you look back
The call of God are of five types
- Redeemed Life - Our lifestyle should reflect a calling for pure, holy life.
- Duty - Ministry unto God - We are called to serve our brothers and sisters
- Summoned for a Specific Purpose for a Specific Season -
- Warning Call - When we walk away from God..... thank God for his warning calls.
- Called as a Declaration - When God designates things by his calling, it is established
Redeemed Life
The people of old had a calling and fulfilled them according God's will. And God is calling each one of us.
Verse: Romans 1:6
And you are included among those Gentiles who have been called to belong to Jesus Christ.
The calling of redeemed life is a call to belong to Jesus Christ. The ownership of your life is not your own. Hence our lifestyle and choices has to be directed by Jesus
Moses grew up in Egypt and he had to flee from his home. He didn't belong anywhere and this feeling was so strong that he called his son.... living in foreign land. In this state of Lost-ness, he hears his name being called..... the call to belong to the Almighty
Verse: Exodus 3:4
When the Lord saw Moses coming to take a closer look, God called to him from the middle of the bush, “Moses! Moses!” “Here I am!” Moses replied.
And what did God call him to do..... to sacrifice
Verse: Exodus 3:18
“The elders of Israel will accept your message. Then you and the elders must go to the king of Egypt and tell him, ‘The Lord, the God of the Hebrews, has met with us. So please let us take a three-day journey into the wilderness to offer sacrifices to the Lord, our God.’
What is this sacrifice? This sacrifice affects our .... Devotion, Feasting
Devotion
The sacrifice of ourself and devote ourselves to the Almighty. When we give up ourself, we look to a sure foundation of God.... and this gives us the confidence to face the World
Feasting
God is calling us to rejoice in God.
Verse: Exodus 5:1
After this presentation to Israel’s leaders, Moses and Aaron went and spoke to Pharaoh. They told him, “This is what the Lord, the God of Israel, says: Let my people go so they may hold a festival in my honor in the wilderness.”
This rejoicing is a worship unto God. This is a wilful decision inspite of the situation (wilderness)
Hezekiah's Worship - The demonstration of Devotion and Feasting
The people in Hezekiah's time made preparations in the Worship
Verse: 2 Chronicles 29:35-36
35 There was an abundance of burnt offerings, along with the usual liquid offerings, and a great deal of fat from the many peace offerings. So the Temple of the Lord was restored to service.
36 And Hezekiah and all the people rejoiced because of what God had done for the people, for everything had been accomplished so quickly.
When we respond to the calling of God.... the outcome is rejoicing and all of this will happen so quickly that it will surprise us
Conclusion - The nature of God's Calling
How does God call us? He calls us by our own name
..... She would never go to the king again unless he had especially enjoyed her and requested her by name.
Do you hear God calling out your name? How do we respond to this call?
Verse: 1 Kings 1:31
Then Bathsheba bowed down with her face to the ground before the king and exclaimed, “May my Lord King David live forever!”
Let us respond to God... bowing face down to live that Redeemed Life .... of sacrifice ... of devotion ... of feasting
“When Israel was a child, I loved him, and I CALLED MY SON out of Egypt. ..... Hosea 11:1
