Life Storms
God is the one that sees us through the storm. And sometimes it is a season of storms.... where you are faced with a series of storm
Verse: Psalms 107:29-30
29 He calmed the storm to a whisper and stilled the waves.
30 What a blessing was that stillness as he brought them safely into harbor!
God is the one who has ordained for us to reach our harbor. And along the way, we will have storms.... but God is with us.
The different kinds of storms are
- Dark, Spiritual Storms
- Godly Storm
- Natural Storm
Dark, Spiritual Storms
God wants to take journeys through the water because we have been appointed to bring deliverance.
Verse: Mark 4:37
But soon a fierce storm came up. High waves were breaking into the boat, and it began to fill with water.
The story ended with the deliverance of the man with the 6000 demons.
God has a specific purpose for you and this specific purpose will lead you through the waters
So here is what makes your journey easier..... when you have your eyes set on bringing a spiritual change, according the will of God. This confidence will set the stage for the rebuke of the storm
Verse: Mark 4:39
39 When Jesus woke up, he rebuked the wind and said to the waves, “Silence! Be still!” Suddenly the wind stopped, and there was a great calm.
God wants us to keep our eyes on His will through faith.
Verse: Mark 4:40
40 Then he asked them, “Why are you afraid? Do you still have no faith?”
Godly Storm
This is the storm that Jonah was in.... the ones who are running away from God.
Verse: Jonah 1:4
4 But the Lord hurled a powerful wind over the sea, causing a violent storm that threatened to break the ship apart.
Jonah was running away from his purpose. We at times run away, ignore God and may be even ignorant of our purpose. And God is showing us the way..... leading us to fulfill the purposes of God.
And Jonah needed to counselling from the captain of the ship...... it shows how much Jonah was away from God.
Verse: Jonah 1:6
6 So the captain went down after him. “How can you sleep at a time like this?” he shouted. “Get up and pray to your god! Maybe he will pay attention to us and spare our lives.”
Jonah knew that this storm was the mercy of God... And it was the mercy of God that led him back to the purpose of God.
Natural Storm
We live in a fallen world. And in our life journey, we are faced with storms as part of natural events.
Verse: Acts 27:14
14 But the weather changed abruptly, and a wind of typhoon strength (called a “northeaster”) burst across the island and blew us out to sea.
What ever the storm you are facing, God is in control. But there will be a day when God will remove all tears and pain. Sometimes, the hope of God's goodness will take us through.
Paul took this opportunity to strengthen the people around. And this is what we are called to do.
Verse: Acts 27:22
22 But take courage! None of you will lose your lives, even though the ship will go down.
We are probably going through a tough time.... but that does not stop you from being the light of encouragement to the people around.
Conclusion
God has a purpose for us and our life experiences will ordained by God so that we can fulfill this purpose. So no matter the type of storm, let the light of God shine through you.... through the storm
