 Fruits We Bear

The question should be directed to our hearts and our relationship to God. What kind of fruit am I bringing in?

Verse: Isaiah 5:1‭-‬2

1 Now I will sing for the one I love a song about his vineyard: My beloved had a vineyard on a rich and fertile hill.

2 He plowed the land, cleared its stones, and planted it with the best vines. In the middle he built a watchtower and carved a winepress in the nearby rocks. Then he waited for a harvest of sweet grapes, but the grapes that grew were bitter.

Fruit are outward reflection of the inward state. The early church didn't realize how miserable they were

Verse: Revelation 3:17

17 You say, ‘I am rich. I have everything I want. I don’t need a thing!’ And you don’t realize that you are wretched and miserable and poor and blind and naked.

We need an accurate measure to determine. Here are some pointers

  • The Fruit of our Heart
  • The Fruit of my Hand
  • The Fruit of our Lips

The Fruit of my Heart

Here are some things that come out of our heart.

Verse: Galatians 5:19

19 When you follow the desires of your sinful nature, the results are very clear: sexual immorality, impurity, lustful pleasures,

22 But the Holy Spirit produces this kind of fruit in our lives: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness,

23 gentleness, and self-control. There is no law against these things!

Often times, we have all these fruits together. But the nature of these fruits are opposed to each other. We should not mix the fruit or else the whole heart will be corrupted

Verse: Deuteronomy 22:9

9 “You must not plant any other crop between the rows of your vineyard. If you do, you are forbidden to use either the grapes from the vineyard or the other crop.

Give all your heart to bear the Fruit of the Spirit like Caleb

Verse: Joshua 14:8

8 but my brothers who went with me frightened the people from entering the Promised Land. For my part, I wholeheartedly followed the Lord my God.

The Fruit of our Hand

If the hand has to be fruitful, then our heart needs to be fruitful. What matters is the root

Verse: Hosea 9:16

16 The people of Israel are struck down. Their roots are dried up, and they will bear no more fruit. And if they give birth, I will slaughter their beloved children.”

The fruit of the hand gets worse when the heart is full of mixed fruit (good and bad)

The Fruit of our Lips

The words of the lips reveals what we are inside. And the words we speak then affects our whole self.

Verse: James 3:6

6 And among all the parts of the body, the tongue is a flame of fire. It is a whole world of wickedness, corrupting your entire body. It can set your whole life on fire, for it is set on fire by hell itself.

We can replace the words of our lips with praise

Verse: Amos 9:11

11 “In that day I will restore the fallen house of David. I will repair its damaged walls. From the ruins I will rebuild it and restore its former glory.

The house of David represents Praise. Let us get back to praising God.... rebuild it.... restore it.
