SundaySermon - Prince - The God Vessel
The God Vessel
The Bible draws a picture of vessels and different vessels have different purposes.
Verse: 2 Timothy 2:20-21
20 In a wealthy home some utensils are made of gold and silver, and some are made of wood and clay. The expensive utensils are used for special occasions, and the cheap ones are for everyday use.
21 If you keep yourself pure, you will be a special utensil for honorable use. Your life will be clean, and you will be ready for the Master to use you for every good work.
We are vessels who fulfil a specific purpose..... to hold God within us. And hence we are The God Vessel.... The God Carrier
The Bible fulfilled His purposes through different vessels.... one of them was Paul and he was to carry God's message to the Gentiles.
Verse: Acts 9:15
15 But the Lord said, “Go, for Saul is my chosen instrument to take my message to the Gentiles and to kings, as well as to the people of Israel.
When people meet you, do they take away the God that you carry? If you able to do this with the people you meet, then you are a effective God Vessel.
Or when people rub you the wrong way, do you spill God and as God Vessel?
Three pointers
- Vessel of Honour
- Vessel of Change
- Vessel of Blessing
Vessel of Honour
The anointed vessels are that of honour or value. We often doubt ourselves on what we are worth.... But God considered you so valuable that he paid with his life.
Vessel of Change
God often works through people. We pray and cry for God to come in and save the world. But what we don't understand God has placed you in that situation so that you can do your part and make a difference.
God is able to bring in that change.... but he decides to use us for honourable use. And God does this in stages... God changes the vessel first and then the environment.
Look at Elijah ... the change he brought about was because of the transformation within himself. The transformation within was the ability to stand in the presence of God.
Verse: 1 Kings 17:1
1 Now Elijah, who was from Tishbe in Gilead, told King Ahab, “As surely as the Lord, the God of Israel, lives—the God I serve—there will be no dew or rain during the next few years until I give the word!”
Will you make a commitment to stand in God's presence .... spend time in prayer, read the Word.
Vessel of Blessing
The blessing that God is bestowing on you overflows and becomes a blessing to others.... There is a description of the man in Psalm 1..... like a tree that bears fruit, and whose fruit satisfies those around.
Verse: Psalms 1:3
3 They are like trees planted along the riverbank, bearing fruit each season. Their leaves never wither, and they prosper in all they do.
One of the fruit that we bear is the words of our mouth.... We need to verbalize our blessing to our children .... our family. We need to bless our family.
David blessed his family.... Moses blessed the community... one such blessing verbalized was for the tribe of Asher
Verse: Deuteronomy 33:24
24 Moses said this about the tribe of Asher: “May Asher be blessed above other sons; may he be esteemed by his brothers; may he bathe his feet in olive oil.
