The power of the praying church

Acts 12: 5

The church prayed earnestly for Peter


There are enemies

Two soldiers within the prison whom he is tied to. These are within the walls of the cell.

The next enemy is the gatekeeper. There are soldiers who are outside.

There are certain things that take a hold of us…. There are other things that we hold on to…. Things that we hold on to is forgiveness. There are other things that have taken a hold of us …. For which we have no control.

At times, when we don’t have control of the situation, we need someone to pray with us…. The church is the congregation of people to support each other and love God.

Zechariah 4:7


The problem that Zechariah was facing was likened to a mountain…. Something that is impossible to move…. But God is throwing that open challenge amid he shouts of grace. 

Esther 4:14


Esther was in deep distress…. It was a situation she couldn’t handle it b herself….. The Jews were about to be exterminated. The only way she was going to do something was by the support of prayer. She called together a fast for 3 days. And every Jew joined in and supported Esther. 

Isaiah 36:14


The Assyrian army was at the Jerusalem and the commander was intimidating Hezekiah. But remember the prayer of Hezekiah was able to bring the army down.


Peter was also bound by the guards. There  are these stubborn things….

He was momentarily free when the chains fell off, but he was not out of prison. If you are not completely out of the prison, you will be dragged back. The freedom we need to experience is the continued state of freedom. 

So this will need pray together. The power of praying together creates a synergy and pushes you beyond your limits. 

The synergy extends beyond connecting with each other in prayer…. The synergy extends to connecting with God himself. That is when your breakthrough happens….. you are called to move

The nation of Israel camped at Mt Horeb. But God said that it was time to move out. You need to move and go with God.

The angel of God led Peter through the iron gate and he was led to the city. God wants to take us through the iron gate to reach the city we are in…. The city of Bangalore need to know about Jesus. And the way we can breach the iron gate is through prayer.

Kill the Babies!!!

Morality Standards A picture is painted of a potter fashioning clay to his liking. And this animated picture brings life to the clay, with the clay protesting the Potters's design. This surprised Potter asks "Can I not do with you, Israel, as this potter does?" Jeremiah 18:5 NIV It seems completely reasonable and moral that the Potter is allowed to shape the clay to his design and liking. Conversely it is unreasonable and immoral for the clay to protest the Potter's design.   "You turn things upside down, as if the potter were thought to be like the clay!" Isaiah 29:16 NIV And yet, we continue in our unreasonability and turn things upside down. Why does mere clay (or humankind), protest the Potter (or God) on morality.
