SundaySermon - Prince - Until Christ is formed in you!

Until Christ is formed in you!

The Christian life is devoted until Christ is fully developed in us. This wilful effort  involves a complete change of character. But when this is fully developed, people will see Christ and not us.

‭‭Verse: Galatians‬ ‭4:19‬

[19] Oh, my dear children! I feel as if I’m going through labor pains for you again, and they will continue until Christ is fully developed in your lives.

And Christ was formed in the literal sense in Mary. God chose Mary to carry out his purpose. And Mary accepted the will of God but that journey was not easy. This involved travelling to Bethelehem... not finding a place.... but Jesus was formed and born into this world for all to see.

This journey of Christ being formed in us is a difficult journey as well. We need to strive to reach the full development of Jesus in us. There is sorrow and hardship

‭‭Verse: 2 Corinthians‬ ‭7:10‬

[10] For the kind of sorrow God wants us to experience leads us away from sin and results in salvation. There’s no regret for that kind of sorrow. But worldly sorrow, which lacks repentance, results in spiritual death.

Formed

Christ was the fulless of God in flesh. And God wants us to display his character while we are living on earth

‭‭Verse: Philippians‬ ‭2:6‬

[6] Though he was God, he did not think of equality with God as something to cling to.

The womb is the place where human life is formed. There is a delicate care involved in the forming of our character

‭‭Verse: Psalms‬ ‭139:13‬

[13] You made all the delicate, inner parts of my body and knit me together in my mother’s womb.

The delicate care can be likened to waiting.... waiting for the Lord. Often times, we don't have patience to allow the Lord to form us completely.

The delicate care can be likened to trusting the Lord. Can we trust the Lord

‭‭Verse: Isaiah‬ ‭26:3‬

[3] You will keep in perfect peace all who trust in you, all whose thoughts are fixed on you!

Servanthood

What comes about this forming of God in us??? A humility is formed to the extent of a  slave.

‭Verse: Philippians‬ ‭2:7‬

[7] Instead, he gave up his divine privileges; he took the humble position of a slave and was born as a human being. When he appeared in human form,

And hence God calls Jesus his servant.

‭‭Verse: Isaiah‬ ‭42:1‬ ‭

[1] “Look at my servant, whom I strengthen. He is my chosen one, who pleases me. I have put my Spirit upon him. He will bring justice to the nations.

What is the nature of a servant?

  • He is not arrogant... He will not shout (Isaiah 42:2)
  • He is patient ... He will not crush the weakest reed (Isaiah 42:3)
  • He does not give up until the task is completed ... He will not falter or lose heart (Isaiah 42:4)

Conclusion

As we look upon Jesus, let us ask Him to formed in us fully.
