SundaySermon - Sunny - Carry the Glory

Carry the Glory

Kabod is "glory" in Hebrew. It means weightiness. It is means the glory is visible... it is also felt!!!

Some of the biblical creatures are described as glorious. It is important to distinguish between the real glory and what is not. And so in Hebrews our training for this distingushing comes from the Word of God.

Verse: Hebrews 5:13

[13] For someone who lives on milk is still an infant and doesn’t know how to do what is right.

[14] Solid food is for those who are mature, who through training have the skill to recognize the difference between right and wrong.

Solid food or the constant use the word of God is to train yourself to distinguish and discern. Spend time to learn the Word of God.

Blameless - Key to see the GLORY

Lucifer was one such creatures. God created him to carry His Glory. Lucifer was created for a purpose (to praise). And the glory bestowed on him helped him fulfil his purpose. He would be in the presence of God and fill the surrounding with his praise. The below the passage describes Lucifer, his glory and his fall.

Verse: Ezekiel 28:13-17

[13] You were in Ed-en, the garden of God. Your clothing was adorned with every precious stone— red carnelian, pale-green peridot, white moonstone, blue-green beryl, onyx, green jasper, blue lapis lazuli, turquoise, and emerald— all beautifully crafted for you and set in the finest gold. They were given to you on the day you were created.

[14] I ordained and anointed you as the mighty angelic guardian. You had access to the holy mountain of God and walked among the stones of fire.

[15] “You were blameless in all you did from the day you were created until the day evil was found in you.

[16] Your rich commerce led you to violence, and you sinned. So I banished you in disgrace from the mountain of God. I expelled you, O mighty guardian, from your place among the stones of fire.

[17] Your heart was filled with pride because of all your beauty. Your wisdom was corrupted by your love of splendor. So I threw you to the ground and exposed you to the curious gaze of kings.

Lucifer was able to carry this glory because he was blameless (Verse 15). We have access to the presence of God because the blood of Jesus makes us blameless

Verse: Hebrews 13:15 - Therefore, let us offer through Jesus a continual sacrifice of praise to God, proclaiming our allegiance to his name.

This blameless status was undone because of trade and commerce (Verse 16). Trade and commerce is an activity that requires working with others. Lucifer was clearly engaging with other angels trading falsehood, gossip etc. His falsehood perpetrated the idea that he was glorious and he was looking for support to go up against God. This lead to his downfall.

Lucifer failed the purpose he was made for. But God didn't give up. And so God said, "Let us make man in our own image... ". And so man was made to fulfill this purpose.... to carry His glory

Was Man successful? We fell but God in his mercy allows us o be redeemed  by Jesus. It was the blood of Jesus. Blood representated in the bible has a connection with the Spiriitual. The representation is seen in the tabernacle. And when they moved from one place to the next, the tabernacle as carried on poles  on the shoulders of the priest - CARRY THE GLORY

Next Generation

We need to set up our tabernacle. We need to set up a system to ensure that the knowledge of God is passed on to our next generation - CARRY THE GLORY

And if the GLORY is not carried to our next generations, the nation perish.

Verse: ‭Proverbs 29:18

[18] When people do not accept divine guidance, they run wild. But whoever obeys the law is joyful.

The GLORY is not difficult to experience. And unless we experience this, we will be unable to carry this glory to the next generations. The evidence of the GLORY is "lame walk, blind see, deaf hear.... " Are you effectively carrying God's glory? Are you ready to engage with God until this is fulfilled in your life.

The consequences of the lack of GLORY is

Verse: ‭Judges 1:21,27,29,30,31,34

[21] The tribe of Benjamin, however, failed to drive out the Jebusites ....

[27] The tribe of Manasseh failed to drive out the people living in Beth-shan, ....

[29] The tribe of Ephraim failed to drive out the Canaanites living in Gezer, ...

[30] The tribe of Zebulun failed to drive out the residents of Kitron and Nahalol, ...

[31] The tribe of Asher failed to drive out the residents of Acco, ...

[34] As for the tribe of Dan, the Amorites forced them back into the hill country ...

And it won't be long before your generational blessing is stopped because of wrong alliances, the fruit of your womb is stolen from you.

Verse: ‭Judges 3:6

[6] and they intermarried with them. Israelite sons married their daughters, and Israelite daughters were given in marriage to their sons. And the Israelites served their gods.

Samuel - a contrast

Samuel was in the presence of God continually. He made a decision to be close to God away from the comfort of warm bed.

Verse: 1 Samuel 3:3

[3] The lamp of God had not yet gone out, and Samuel was sleeping in the Tabernacle near the Ark of God.

This brought about the encounter with God. Let us pray so that we will encounter God.
