What am I am reaching for? (Vision)
The people of Israel lost their vision of the promised land and at several points in their journey voiced out their desire to go back Egypt. This caused for them to wander threw the desert 40 years. They failed to feed on the vision that God had for them. The vision that was communicated through the Word of God.
Verse: Deuteronomy 29:2-4
2 Moses summoned all the Israelites and said to them: Your eyes have seen all that the Lord did in Egypt to Pharaoh, to all his officials and to all his land.
3 With your own eyes you saw those great trials, those signs and great wonders.
4 But to this day the Lord has not given you a mind that understands or eyes that see or ears that hear.
And they failed to understand or see with their eyes or hear with their ears the vision that God had for them.
Verse: Proverbs 29:18
18 Where there is no vision, the people perish:
If there is no vision in your heart, the consequences are disasterous. So it is important to get a hold of your vision and that is communicated through the Word of God.
Verse: Psalm 106:24-25
24 Then they despised the pleasant land; they did not believe his promise.
25 They grumbled in their tents and did not obey the Lord.
The verse talks of your blessing right in front of you but because of the lack of understanding of the promise (vision), we despise it.
Here are some of the vision you need to be sure of
- Vision for you and your famil
- Vision for your church
- Vision of Eternity
1. Find a vision for your life and your family
Vision is an insight into something in the future. If this is insight, you will need to open your eyes to see. And when Jeremiah was called, God first taught him to see
Verse: Jeremiah 1:11-12
11 The word of the Lord came to me: “What do you see, Jeremiah?” “I see the branch of an almond tree,” I replied.
12 The Lord said to me, “You have seen correctly, for I am watching to see that my word is fulfilled.”
It is important to see before we can understand the vision for you and your family
Moses went out to see his brothers because of poor vision, killed a man. But God caused him to see the vision clearly ... the future of a good land for the people of Israel.
Verse: Exodus 3:7-8
7 The Lord said, “I have indeed seen the misery of my people in Egypt. I have heard them crying out because of their slave drivers, and I am concerned about their suffering.
8 So I have come down to rescue them from the hand of the Egyptians and to bring them up out of that land into a good and spacious land, a land flowing with milk and honey
And since he saw the vision with clarity he always prayed and begged God to let me see what God promised.
Verse: Deuteronomy 3:25
25 Let me go over and see the good land beyond the Jordan—that fine hill country and Lebanon.”
Why is the vision important to be communicated to the family. This is because God endorses this vision by the portion of the spirit.
Verse: Malachi 2:15
15 Did he not make them one, with a portion of the Spirit in their union?[a] And what was the one God[b] seeking? Godly offspring. So guard yourselves[d] in your spirit, and let none of you be faithless to the wife of your youth.
Look at Cornelius life..... his vision was communicated to his family and they gave generously to the poor and prayed together
Verse: Acts 10:2
2 He and all his family were devout and God-fearing; he gave generously to those in need and prayed to God regularly.
Vision for the Church
If you belong to a church, then you need to get a hold of the vision of the church. Jesus compared the vision to the most essential needs of life. Please don't ignore the vision for the church you belong to.
Verse: John 4:34
34 “My food,” said Jesus, “is to do the will of him who sent me and to finish his work.
David had that vision. He pursued it with all his strength
Verse: Psalm 132:2-5
3 “I will not enter my house or go to my bed,
4 I will allow no sleep to my eyes or slumber to my eyelids,
5 till I find a place for the Lord, a dwelling for the Mighty One of Jacob.”
He wasn't able to fulfill the building of the temple, but this vision was passed on the Solomon. And
Vision of Eternity
And if you don't have a vision of eternity, all other purposes or vision is useless. Hence this is the most important.
Verse: Isaiah 65:17
17 “See, I will create new heavens and a new earth. The former things will not be remembered, nor will they come to mind.
Don't despise the assurance of salvation with thoughts of doubt.
Conclusion
Can you see your vision? Do you know percieve the new thing that God is doing. And if you do, all your vision will point to the Son of Man standing at the right hand of God.
Verse: Acts 7:54-56
54 When the members of the Sanhedrin heard this, they were furious and gnashed their teeth at him.
55 But Stephen, full of the Holy Spirit, looked up to heaven and saw the glory of God, and Jesus standing at the right hand of God.
56 “Look,” he said, “I see heaven open and the Son of Man standing at the right hand of God.”
