Keys to Spiritual Victory 2

The Spiritual Victory is achieved by discipline of the mind. And that discipline comes from putting the right thoughts in your mind. This comes by meditating on God's word

Verse: Joshua 1:8‭-‬9

8 Study this Book of Instruction continually. Meditate on it day and night so you will be sure to obey everything written in it. Only then will you prosper and succeed in all you do. 

9 This is my command—be strong and courageous! Do not be afraid or discouraged. For the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.”

The Word not only transforms your mind, but that transformation is evident for all to see

Verse: Luke 4:32

There, too, the people were amazed at his teaching, for he spoke with authority.

So is important to meditate on God's Word so that our minds are changed to think God's thoughts.

The authority of God's Word changes the situation and see you through..... All you need to hear is "thus says the Lord....."

Verse: 2 Kings 3:16‭-‬19

16 and he said, “This is what the Lord says: This dry valley will be filled with pools of water! 

17 You will see neither wind nor rain, says the Lord, but this valley will be filled with water. You will have plenty for yourselves and your cattle and other animals. 

18 But this is only a simple thing for the Lord, for he will make you victorious over the army of Moab! 

19 You will conquer the best of their towns, even the fortified ones. You will cut down all their good trees, stop up all their springs, and ruin all their good land with stones.”

Word of the Gospel

Gospel is not .... "Jesus loves you....". Peter didn't preach the Gospel to make people feel loved. He

Verse: Acts 15:7

7 At the meeting, after a long discussion, Peter stood and addressed them as follows: “Brothers, you all know that God chose me from among you some time ago to preach to the Gentiles so that they could hear the Good News and believe.


Verse: 1 Corinthians 15:2-4

2 It is this Good News that saves you if you continue to believe the message I told you—unless, of course, you believed something that was never true in the first place.

3 I passed on to you what was most important and what had also been passed on to me. Christ died for our sins, just as the Scriptures said. 

4 He was buried, and he was raised from the dead on the third day, just as the Scriptures said. 

What is the Gospel? ..... it is the power of God ..... for salvation

Verse: Romans 1:16

16 For I am not ashamed of this Good News about Christ. It is the power of God at work, saving everyone who believes—the Jew first and also the Gentile.

And sometimes, we all need to check on our understanding of the Gospel..... as Paul did

Verse: Galatians 2:2

2 I went there because God revealed to me that I should go. While I was there I met privately with those considered to be leaders of the church and shared with them the message I had been preaching to the Gentiles. I wanted to make sure that we were in agreement, for fear that all my efforts had been wasted and I was running the race for nothing.

So we need to check our understanding of the Good News. If you don't believe that good news, you won't be excited

Word of Christ

What has Jesus spoken that is attributed as the Word of Christ

Verse: Colossians 3:16

Let the message about Christ, in all its richness, fill your lives. Teach and counsel each other with all the wisdom he gives. Sing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs to God with thankful hearts.

What is the Word of Christ?

  • Truth
  • Forgiveness
  • Cleansing
  • Healing
  • Life

Truth

Verse: John 17:17

Make them holy by your truth; teach them your word, which is truth.

The truth sometimes can hurt because we as people don't want to be told that we are in the wrong. But we need to hear the Word of Christ.

Forgiveness

No other message gives you forgiveness first before you start your Spiritual Journey

Verse: John 8:10‭-‬11

10 Then Jesus stood up again and said to the woman, “Where are your accusers? Didn’t even one of them condemn you?” 

11 “No, Lord,” she said. And Jesus said, “Neither do I. Go and sin no more.” ----------

Cleansing

Verse: Matthew 8:2‭-‬3

2 Suddenly, a man with leprosy approached him and knelt before him. “Lord,” the man said, “if you are willing, you can heal me and make me clean.” 

3 Jesus reached out and touched him. “I am willing,” he said. “Be healed!” And instantly the leprosy disappeared.

Word of Prophesy

The testimony of Jesus is the pattern of what he will do ..... prophesy.

Verse: Revelation 19:10

10 Then I fell down at his feet to worship him, but he said, “No, don’t worship me. I am a servant of God, just like you and your brothers and sisters who testify about their faith in Jesus. Worship only God. For the essence of prophecy is to give a clear witness for Jesus.”

One of the things, we struggle is to know what is in store for us.... what is our future..... But if God works following a pattern, you will be understand God's will for your life

Verse: Jeremiah 20:9

But if I say I’ll never mention the Lord or speak in his name, his word burns in my heart like a fire. It’s like a fire in my bones! I am worn out trying to hold it in! I can’t do it!

Morality Standards A picture is painted of a potter fashioning clay to his liking. And this animated picture brings life to the clay, with the clay protesting the Potters's design. This surprised Potter asks "Can I not do with you, Israel, as this potter does?" Jeremiah 18:5 NIV It seems completely reasonable and moral that the Potter is allowed to shape the clay to his design and liking. Conversely it is unreasonable and immoral for the clay to protest the Potter's design.   "You turn things upside down, as if the potter were thought to be like the clay!"
