 Kingdom of God 3

What are we to do because the Kingdom of God is among us? 

  • Bring the Kingdom through the Holy Spirit
  • Enter the Kingdom of God
  • Inheriting the Kingdom of God


Here is how Paul demonstrated the Kingdom of God.


Bring the Kingdom of God through the Holy Spirit

Verse: Acts of the Apostles 16:16

16 One day as we were going down to the place of prayer, we met a slave girl who had a spirit that enabled her to tell the future. She earned a lot of money for her masters by telling fortunes.

17 She followed Paul and the rest of us, shouting, “These men are servants of the Most High God, and they have come to tell you how to be saved.”

18 This went on day after day until Paul got so exasperated that he turned and said to the demon within her, “I command you in the name of Jesus Christ to come out of her.” And instantly it left her.

There is a war that is going on. There is the Kingdom of God on one side and there is the Kingdom of Evil. And the Kingdom of God is advanced because of our words. Hence we need to proclaim the Kingdom of God through Praise, worship, and speaking the Word of God. 

Here Paul commanded the evil spirit to leave. We need the fullness of the Holy Spirit to command this authority

Enter the Kingdom of God

  • By Faith
  • By being truthful
  • By having Childlike faith
  • cautious of wrong desires
  • Hardship
Verse: Matthew 5:20

“But I warn you—unless your righteousness is better than the righteousness of the teachers of religious law and the Pharisees, you will never enter the Kingdom of Heaven!

What is righteousness mean? It is being right with God. Our righteous standing comes from Jesus. It is not by deeds. After this assurance is how we can perform righteous acts. The righteous acts will not provide the right standing.

By being true

Verse: Matthew 7:21

“Not everyone who calls out to me, ‘Lord! Lord!’ will enter the Kingdom of Heaven. Only those who actually do the will of my Father in heaven will enter.

 Our calling on the Lord 

By being Childlike

There is a trust that a child has with his parent is pure. We need to take God at his word

Verse: Matthew 19:24

I’ll say it again—it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich person to enter the Kingdom of God!”

The desire for money can make it impossible to enter the Kingdom.  Money by itself is not evil. But the desire for money when it becomes an obsession is evil. 

Hardship

Verse: Acts of the Apostles 14:22

where they strengthened the believers. They encouraged them to continue in the faith, reminding them that we must suffer many hardships to enter the Kingdom of God.

There is going to be hardship when you have made 


Inheriting the Kingdom

What is inheriting the Kingdom of God?

  • Personal Holiness
  • Good works


Personal Holiness

Verse: 1 Corinthians 6:9

Don’t you realize that those who do wrong will not inherit the Kingdom of God? Don’t fool yourselves. Those who indulge in sexual sin, or who worship idols, or commit adultery, or are male prostitutes, or practice homosexuality,

Morality Standards A picture is painted of a potter fashioning clay to his liking. And this animated picture brings life to the clay, with the clay protesting the Potters's design. This surprised Potter asks "Can I not do with you, Israel, as this potter does?" Jeremiah 18:5 NIV It seems completely reasonable and moral that the Potter is allowed to shape the clay to his design and liking.
