Who is your Daddy?
Jesus taught us to pray
Verse: Matthew 6:9
Pray like this: Our Father in heaven, may your name be kept holy.
We may have had fathers who were loving or otherwise. But no matter what, God is your heavenly father who loves you deeply.
How did this all happen? Jesus made this possible and we call God Father through the Holy Spirit
Verse: Ephesians 2:12-13,18
12 In those days you were living apart from Christ. You were excluded from citizenship among the people of Israel, and you did not know the covenant promises God had made to them. You lived in this world without God and without hope.
13 But now you have been united with Christ Jesus. Once you were far away from God, but now you have been brought near to him through the blood of Christ.
18 Now all of us can come to the Father through the same Holy Spirit because of what Christ has done for us.
We didn't deserve the privilege of calling God Father. But Jesus made it possible. And perhaps there are people who don't have fathers but we can be that person who can show people who their real father is.
The story of the prodigal son is one where the son didn't have a relationship with their father. He was interested in money. He thought life was all about money.
But when he finally came to his senses, he went back to his "father".
Verse: Luke 15:18
I will go home to my father and say, “Father, I have sinned against both heaven and you,
Life is not defined by money or wealth. Life is defined by the relationships you have. And so the son made his decision to go back to his father. He could have decided to go and make money.
So the encouragement for all is take special care for the relationships you have..... your father and mother.
Verse: Ephesians 6:3
If you honor your father and mother, “things will go well for you, and you will have a long life on the earth.”
Fathers in your life is so important. In fact life with out the recognition of the father is devasting. You will not have the counsel, guidance
Verse: 1 Thessalonians 2:11-12
11 And you know that we treated each of you as a father treats his own children.
12 We pleaded with you, encouraged you, and urged you to live your lives in a way that God would consider worthy. For he called you to share in his Kingdom and glory.
Again Father's influence fills your life with compassion in rough world.
Verse: Psalms 103:13
The Lord is like a father to his children, tender and compassionate to those who fear him.
And if you have never seen God as your father, the encouragement is to reach out to him.
How can we ignore the Father who has filled us with all these blessing?
See the Sermon on the mount passage. The heavenly father is in several verses.
Who is your daddy? Do you recognise him?
