SundaySermon - Prince - Willing Spirit

Willing Spirit

God is called us to live life and live life abundantly. That abundant life comes from the Spirit of God that renews our Spirit. And hence David is making this prayer to be willing, to receive the source of this abundant life.

‭‭Verse: Psalms 51:10-12‬‬

[10] Create in me a clean heart, O God. Renew a loyal spirit within me.

[11] Do not banish me from your presence, and‭ take not your Holy Spirit from me

[12] Restore to me the joy of your salvation, and make me willing to obey you.

That yielding of the will of man happened in the life of Paul on the road to Damascus. And so we need to be willing to obey to enjoy life.

‭‭Verse: Isaiah 1:19

[19] If you will only obey me, you will have plenty to eat.

When Jesus was on earth, he lived a life suject to the will of the Father. Let us look at three points

  1. Willing Spirit
  2. Right Spirit
  3. Holy Spirit

Willing Spirit

Make me "willing to obey you" (Psalm 51:12). This means that you are inclined to the Lord. This is a spiritual posture. It means that I will do anything to follow you.

‭‭Verse: Exodus 35:21

[21] All whose hearts were stirred and whose spirits were moved came and brought their sacred offerings to the Lord. They brought all the materials needed for the Tabernacle, for the performance of its rituals, and for the sacred garments.

The question to ask is are we willing to let God have His will in our life.

An willing spirit is the spirit is the Spirit of Rebellion.

Verse: ‭‭Deuteronomy 1:26

[26] “But you rebelled against the command of the Lord your God and refused to go in.

Right Spirit

A right spirit is on that is stable and loyal "Renew a loyal spirit within me" (Psalm 51:10)

An Athelite in order to prepare for a game or event, needs to a consistent with his practice and coaching. And so it is with the Spirit.... We need to be put a stong schedule and we need to be consistent in the Spirit  well. It means you need the right Spirit.

Verse: ‭‭Leviticus 19:11

[11] “Do not steal. “Do not deceive or cheat one another

Holy Spirit

The Psalmist is asking God to "not to take the Holy Spirit from me" (Psalm 51;10)

The Holy Spirit is a humble Spirit as against the spirit of man

‭‭Verse: Isaiah 14:13-14

[13] For you said to yourself, ‘I will ascend to heaven and set my throne above God’s stars. I will preside on the mountain of the gods far away in the north. [14] I will climb to the highest heavens and be like the Most High.

As against the "I will " of the world

‭‭Verse: Psalms 66:15

[15] That is why I am sacrificing burnt offerings to you— the best of my rams as a pleasing aroma, and a sacrifice of bulls and male goats.

Conclusion

Let us make willful decision to follow and praise god. The consequences of our willingness or unwillingness is real

‭‭Verse: Matthew 23:37

[37]  “O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, the city that kills the prophets and stones God’s messengers! How often I have wanted to gather your children together as a hen protects her chicks beneath her wings, but you wouldn’t let me.
