 Deep Roots

Are you deep rooted in the Word of God? We are in this world of change every day. And betting on changing situation is unwise…. However when we are rooted in the Word of God (never changing), we are in the safe place.

Verse: ‭‭Psalms‬ ‭1‬:‭1‬-‭3‬ 

1 “Oh, the joys of those who do not follow the advice of the wicked, or stand around with sinners, or join in with mockers. 

2 But they delight in the law of the Lord, meditating on it day and night. 

3 They are like trees planted along the riverbank, bearing fruit each season. Their leaves never wither, and they prosper in all they do.”

Here are the three pointers 

  1. Walk the Word
  2. Talk the Word
  3. Reap the Reward

Walk the Word (Do not walk the World)

There is blessedness about staying away from evil and living your life “being right with God and straight with man”. We are expected to be true in our relationship with God. We are also expected to deal honestly and with integrity with men and woman around.

“Do not walk, sit or stand with the unrighteous” …. It simply means that we are fellowship-ing with people who are anchored in the Word of God. The word fellowship is not merely having acquaintances …. Fellowship involves interaction on a friendship level…. There is sharing of emotions…. At this level of interaction (or fellowship), it should be restricted to people who have the same Godly values.

Does your fellowship (friends) encourage you to love God? Or do they tear you down.

Please don’t have an emotional connect with people who don’t love God.

Verse: ‭‭Jeremiah‬ ‭9‬:‭23‬-‭24‬ 

23 “This is what the Lord says: “Don’t let the wise boast in their wisdom, or the powerful boast in their power, or the rich boast in their riches. 

24 But those who wish to boast should boast in this alone: that they truly know me and understand that I am the Lord who demonstrates unfailing love and who brings justice and righteousness to the earth, and that I delight in these things. I, the Lord, have spoken!”

‭Talk the Word

“But his delight is in the Law of the Lord….” 

There is safety when we speak the Word. The speaking of God’s word changes our lives. There is a safety in delighting in the Word of God…. Because life is hard,…. And if you don’t have anything to delight in, you will not be weather the storm.

Delight - Internalise the Word of God so much so that you devour it….

Verse: ‭‭Jeremiah‬ ‭15‬:‭16‬ 

16 “When I discovered your words, I devoured them. They are my joy and my heart’s delight, for I bear your name, O Lord God of Heaven’s Armies.”

Paul has similar things to say

Verse: ‭‭Philippians‬ ‭4‬:‭8‬

8  “And now, dear brothers and sisters, one final thing. Fix your thoughts on what is true, and honorable, and right, and pure, and lovely, and admirable. Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise.”

You cannot challenge the ways of the World with your wisdom….. You need God’s Word

Reap the Reward

“Like a tree planted by streams of water that yields its fruit in its season….”

Because walk the Word and we talk the Word, we can draw our sustenance from God’s Word all the time. We also bear fruit…. Something that is an outflow and able to provide for those around you. …. The fruit of the Spirit… Love, Joy, Peace, …. Etc

There is an outflow of comfort for the people around and there is prosperity for you and your family

Verse: ‭‭Joshua‬ ‭1‬:‭8‬

8 “Study this Book of Instruction continually. Meditate on it day and night so you will be sure to obey everything written in it. Only then will you prosper and succeed in all you do.”

Read and delight in God’s Word…. Delight in word and action…. You will be prosperous

Happy Men's Day! Celebrating people is important because it builds community, strengthens relationships, and creates a culture of gratitude and appreciation. We all celebrate Women's Day. Kill the Babies!!!

Morality Standards A picture is painted of a potter fashioning clay to his liking. And this animated picture brings life to the clay, with the clay protesting the Potters's design. This surprised Potter asks "Can I not do with you, Israel, as this potter does?" Jeremiah 18:5 NIV It seems completely reasonable and moral that the Potter is allowed to shape the clay to his design and liking. Conversely it is unreasonable and immoral for the clay to protest the Potter's design.   "You turn things upside down, as if the potter were thought to be like the clay!" Isaiah 29:16 NIV And yet, we continue in our unreasonability and turn things upside down. Why does mere clay (or humankind), protest the Potter (or God) on morality.
