 Aligning Myself to God

God created us and the first story in the Bible was one where he allowed them the choice between the tree of good and evil. God commanded them to follow him but our choice to follow him should be our own. And God is calling us to align ourselves to His will.

The different words we use for this alignment is Repentance. Repentance is turning around and turning to God. And God is so loving that he shows us where we need to align ourselves to God. And this is specific to the person. God is a personal God. And that is why we have testimony time in church. We hear about the unique way that God works with people to have them aligned to Him.

Alignment also means that there is a standard that needs to be adhered to. The standard is the Bible (Word of God).

Verse: Isaiah 55:6-11

6 Seek the Lord while you can find him. Call on him now while he is near.

7 Let the wicked change their ways and banish the very thought of doing wrong. Let them turn to the Lord that he may have mercy on them. Yes, turn to our God, for he will forgive generously.

8 “My thoughts are nothing like your thoughts,” says the Lord. “And my ways are far beyond anything you could imagine.

9 For just as the heavens are higher than the earth, so my ways are higher than your ways and my thoughts higher than your thoughts.

10 “The rain and snow come down from the heavens and stay on the ground to water the earth. They cause the grain to grow, producing seed for the farmer and bread for the hungry.

11 It is the same with my word. I send it out, and it always produces fruit. It will accomplish all I want it to, and it will prosper everywhere I send it.

12 You will live in joy and peace. The mountains and hills will burst into song, and the trees of the field will clap their hands!

13 Where once there were thorns, cypress trees will grow. Where nettles grew, myrtles will sprout up. These events will bring great honor to the Lord’s name; they will be an everlasting sign of his power and love.”

Here are some pointers

  • The opportunity to alignment first has a timeline attached to him. Repent now ....  Seek the Lord while you can find him... (Vs 6)
  • There is an alignment to the standards.... Let the wicked change their ways.... (Vs 7)... God standards require that we tune with him. This voice/call for alignment might be a still small voice. And you will find this starkly different from your thoughts.... My ways are not your ways, my thoughts are not your thoughts....
  • There is a connection between the rain and bread (Vs 10) and Gods Word (Vs 11). God's word allows for prosperity on an individual leve
  • God's word when followed by His people allows for this blessing to overflow into nature.... trees of filled will clap their hands (Vs 12)
  • A super natural blessing follows you when you align yourself .... where there were once thorns (Vs 3) .... Thorns came about in the world because of the curse of God. The converse is blessing

Conclusion

We are not alone in this effort to align ourselves to God. God is personally involved to help you align. Besides God, the company of godly people will help you align yourself. And if good things come about because of this alignment . i.e. blessing for yourself, family and community (including nature), let us take this call seriously

7 Let the wicked change their ways and banish the very thought of doing wrong. Let them turn to the Lord that he may have mercy on them. Yes, turn to our God, for he will forgive generously. (Vs7)
