Divine Interventions
Verse: Matthew 1:20
20 As he considered this, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream. “Joseph, son of David,” the angel said, “do not be afraid to take Mary as your wife. For the child within her was conceived by the Holy Spirit
Joseph and Mary was destined to be vessels through which the Messiah would come. But he was disappointed with the news that Mary was carrying. He wanted to drop the whole plan. But God intervened to help him carry through.
Do not thwart the call of God!!! Do not Quit!!!
The call of God on Joseph was simple. He was to take care of Jesus through childhood. It wasn't fancy and what made it worse, the news of Mary's pregnancy.
How does this apply to our life? Our life has a purpose. We complain, quit what God intended for us to do. But don't give up. God is with you to fulfill his purpose.
And when finally when Joseph decided to go ahead, he probably had to deal with gossipers. It was probably hard to conceal the news of Mary's pregnancy. Stepping into the purpose of God does not guarantee a good life.
Interventions that warns
Verse: Matthew 2:13
13 After the wise men were gone, an angel of the Lord appeared to Joseph in a dream. “Get up! Flee to Egypt with the child and his mother,” the angel said. “Stay there until I tell you to return, because Herod is going to search for the child to kill him.”
The wise men took the warning seriously and allowed for the purpose of God to be fulfilled. The warning is generally issued in times of danger. There are two ways to handle this. We can face our danger head on. Ot we need to flee (Depending on our Strength).
The Bible specifically tells us to flee sexual sins etc. There is no point standing and fighting this. Remove yourself from your situtuation.
Interventions that Guards!
Verse: Matthew 2:22
22 But when he learned that the new ruler of Judea was Herod’s son Archelaus, he was afraid to go there. Then, after being warned in a dream, he left for the region of Galilee.
God guided Joseph through the difficult times to place him in the best place. And God guides us all. After this journey to Nazareth, we don't hear anything else about him. But we know that Joseph was faithful. We need to be faithful to our calling. This faithfulness allowed Jesus to grow up through his childhood and hence Joseph was part of the Messiah story.
