Camp22 - Rajiv - Being the man of God

 Godly Man

1 Corinthians 16:13

Be on guard. Stand firm in the faith. Be courageous. Be strong.

What does in mean to be that Biblical man?

  • Man of Valour
  • Man after God's own heart
  • Man of Humility
  • Man who is a Friend of God
  • Man of Conviction

Man of Valour

Verse: Judges 6:12

The angel of the Lord appeared to him and said, “Mighty hero, the Lord is with you!”

Gideon is hiding in fear. But God is calling him Mighty man of valour. God is calling every man to be men of courage.

Courage will mean that you are taking on challenges. It will seem impossible but despite that God is calling us to overcome challenges together.

The criteria is not ability but availability, its not expertise but willingness, it is not self confidence but faith God, it is not strategy but obedience

The call of Gideon was not based on Gideon's self worth but on God  knowledge of Gideon

Man after God's own heart

Verse: Acts 13:22

But God removed Saul and replaced him with David, a man about whom God said, ‘I have found David son of Jesse, a man after my own heart. He will do everything I want him to do.’

A man after God's hear does all that God wants him to do.

Verse: Psalms 86:11

Teach me your ways, O Lord, that I may live according to your truth! Grant me purity of heart, so that I may honor you.

The prayers is to have an undivided heart. God needs your heart and all of it. The priority needs to be right and where we give our affection needs to be check

Solomon was the wisest man but his loyalties were divided.

Verse: 1 Kings 11:3

He had 700 wives of royal birth and 300 concubines. And in fact, they did turn his heart away from the Lord.

Man of Humility

Verse: Numbers 12:3

(Now Moses was very humble—more humble than any other person on earth.)

Humility pleases God. Paul focus was on pleasing God

Verse: Galatians 1:10

Obviously, I’m not trying to win the approval of people, but of God. If pleasing people were my goal, I would not be Christ’s servant.

Man who is a friend of God

Verse: James 2:23

And so it happened just as the Scriptures say: “Abraham believed God, and God counted him as righteous because of his faith.” He was even called the friend of God.

Abraham was that man and he just believed God and took him at his word

Verse: Romans 4:18

18 Even when there was no reason for hope, Abraham kept hoping—believing that he would become the father of many nations. For God had said to him, “That’s how many descendants you will have!”

19 And Abraham’s faith did not weaken, even though, at about 100 years of age, he figured his body was as good as dead—and so was Sarah’s womb.

20 Abraham never wavered in believing God’s promise. In fact, his faith grew stronger, and in this he brought glory to God.

When you are a friend of God, God will share with you His plan

Verse: Genesis 18:17

“Should I hide my plan from Abraham?” the Lord asked.

Man of Conviction

Verse: Daniel 6:10

But when Daniel learned that the law had been signed, he went home and knelt down as usual in his upstairs room, with its windows open toward Jerusalem. He prayed three times a day, just as he had always done, giving thanks to his God.

No matter what the cost is, he stood for his conviction.

The opposite of conviction is compromise. We don't want to be compromising people.
